The East Bend Recreational Park begin in 1967 with an idea by Joe C Matthews of having a community pool right here in the small town of East Bend.  The land was donated by his father, P.K. Matthews and his wife, Cherrie Matthews. The logistics was handled by Joe C Matthews and the Jaycee's (president at the time was Don Matthews). The groundbreaking was in 1968, and the pool opened for memberships & SWIMMING in 1969! What a wonderful amenity to have here in our small town of East Bend!
